Mattia De Sciglio has been ruled out of Italy's opening World Cup match against England.
The Milan defender pulled up injured during training and there were initial fears that he would be ruled out of the tournament.
He has since been diagnosed with a muscle contracture that will see him miss Saturday's clash in Manaus.
"De Sciglio will stay with us," chief medic Professor Castellacci is quoted as saying by Football Italia.
"There are also no concerns for the second game against Costa Rica."
De Sciglio has made 11 appearances for the Italian national side, having made his debut in March 2013.
