Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Gold Cup final match between Jamaica and Mexico.

Winfried Schafer's men reached the final of the competition for the first time in their history following their stunning win over the host nation USA in the semi-finals. Jamaica can create history with a victory this evening by securing their first triumph in a major tournament.

El Tri booked their place in the final with a controversial victory over Panama in the last four. Miguel Herrera's men looked to be heading out of the competition until they were awarded a contentious penalty in the last minute of the game, which caused chaotic scenes in the Georgia Dome. Referee Mark Geiger made himself a very unpopular character in Panama with the decision, but Andres Guardado still had to hold his nerve to score from the spot. The Mexico skipper did it once more in extra-time to send his side through.

Mexico now have the chance to win the competition for a seventh time and for the first time since 2011. Herrera was under pressure before the start of the tournament and can now add a major title to his credentials with a victory this evening.

The team news has been announced and we'll start with Jamaica.

Jamaica have made one change to their side from their victory over the USA as Derby County forward Simon Dawkins comes into the team to replace Darren Mattocks, despite the striker's goal in the semi-finals. Dawkins will lead the line alongside Giles Barnes this evening, with Jobi McAnuff and Garath McCleary operating on the flanks. Michael Hector and Wes Morgan have been a solid presence at the back for the Reggae Boys in the competition, and the duo continue in the heart of the Jamaica defence tonight.

Mexico have made two changes to their side from their win over Panama. Carlos Vela and Hector Herrera miss out on selection due to suspension, while Jesus Corona and Jesus Duena come into the starting lineup. Corona leads the line alongside Oribe Peralta as Herrera continues with his 5-3-2 system as Duena will patrol the centre of the park with Jonathan dos Santos and Guardado. Miguel Layun and Paul Aguilar operate in the wing-back positions following their impressive displays throughout the competition.

The players are making their way out on to the pitch for their final preparations ahead of kickoff.

We're appoaching kickoff at Lincoln Financial Field. Mexico have plenty of support in Philadelphia and they will be sure to let themsevles be heard this evening.

Jamaica defender Wes Morgan has revealed that winning the Gold Cup would be a huge achievement for his side and would be on par with winning promotion to the Premier League with Leciester City last year.

"To go on and win it would be another incredible achievement for me and for the team," he told the Foxes' official website.

"It would go right up there with winning promotion to the Premier League with Leicester and our successful fight to stay there last season.

"The whole journey has been one of the best experiences of my career."

We have the anthems at long last, but not the anthem of either of the sides playing tonight, as the Star Spangled Banner blazes through the PA system of Lincoln Financial Field.

Still no sign of the players, although kickoff was scheduled for 12.30am BST. Hopefully the delay to kickoff will resolved soon.

The players have gathered in the tunnel so we should be just minutes away from kickoff.

Just before kickoff, Winfried Schafer has described how he has masterminded Jamaica's run to the final of the competition.

When asked by ESPN, how his side have reached the showdown in Lincoln Financial Field, he said: "Very hard work. I built a new team in one year. New players [came in] from England, new players [came in] from MLS.

"Team building isn't only about playing good football - team building is also about team spirit. We have very good team spirit."

They do love their pageantry in the USA and we have a lot of dignitaries on the field and speeches from both captains Rodolph Austin and Andres Guardado before we get to the anthems. We'll get there eventually.

KICKOFF! We're underway at last in the final of the Gold Cup.

McAnuff announces himself in the contest as he flies into a couple of challenges with Duenas and then Aguilar. A lot of nervous energy will be present in the players in the opening few minutes of the match.

Mexico are trying to settle into a rhythm by passing the ball around at the back, but the Reggae Boys are putting pressure on them at the back. A positive start to the match by Schafer's men.

YELLOW CARD! Jamaica carve out an opening down the left as McAnuff raids forward with menace and then cuts back in on his right foot. He tries to release the run of Lawrence up from the back, but the defender has his shirt pulled by Duenas and a yellow card is presented to the midfielder, while Jamaica are awarded a free kick on the edge of the box.

CLOSE! Austin lifts the ball dangerously to the back post for the run of Barnes, but neither he or Hector can make contact for what would have been a certain goal. Warning signs for Herrera's men.

CHANCE! Dawkins sends McAnuff into the inside left channel and continues his run into the box. The winger tries to pick him out with a low cross into the middle, and he finds his target, but the forward misses his kick and the chance is spurned as Reyes boots the ball clear.

Mexico have calmed the storm over the past few minutes to get themsevles a foothold in the game. However, Jamaica have settled into the match far more easily than El Tri and could well be ahead.

Mexico make progress in the final third as Duenas plays the ball out wide to Peralta, but the forward can only lift his resulting cross straight into the hands of Thompson. El Tri have yet to offer an attacking threat.

Duenas works the tightrope as he brings down Dawkins 30 yards from goal. The midfielder has to be really careful from now on as that could well be his final warning from the referee.

Austin tries to blast the free kick at goal, but his effort flies straight into the wall. The game has lacked quality in the final third, both teams could do with a spark to kickstart their progress this evening.

BLOCK! Guardado unlocks the Jamaica defence with a weaving run into the box and then lays the ball into the path of Duenas inside the area, but the midfielder's effort crashes off Morgan, who makes an important block to quell the attack.

CHANCE! Jamaica fail to clear their lines from a ball into the box and Aguilar guides the ball towards Corona who powers a header towards the bottom corner, but Thompson gets down low to palm the ball past the post.

From the resulting corner, Dos Santos lifts the ball into the middle of the area and Peralta rises highest to head at goal, but his effort lands straight in the hands of Thompson.

Mexico are starting to find their rhythm in final third as Aguilar feeds the run of Duenas inside the box, but his effort is deflected behind into the sidenetting by Lawrence.

Dos Santos's corner is again accurate from the right as Rodriguez manages to get his head to the ball, but Peralta eases the pressure on Jamaica by fouling Thompson as he went to challenge for the ball.

CHANCE! Peralta surges through the middle of the Jamaica defence, but is brought down by Hector. The loose ball falls to Duenas who picks out the run of Corona down the left. The striker cuts inside on his right foot and curls an effort towards the top corner, but his effort sails wide of the target.

YELLOW CARD! Austin goes into the book for a foul on Guardado.

Mexico take the lead and who else could it be but their inspirational skipper Guardado. The 28-year-old won the free kick, which was taken quickly out to the right for the run of Aguilar who got in behind the Jamaica backline. The full-back lifted a cross to the back post where Guardado came in unmarked and he managed to maintain his composure to steer the ball into the top corner. A sublime finish.

YELLOW CARD! Reyes brings down McAnuff and goes into the book.

Barnes takes the free kick from 30 yards and goes for goal. His effort takes a deflection on its way to the net and sails just over the crossbar, although Ochoa probably had the strike covered.

McCleary runs down the right wing and cuts back on to his left foot and lifts the ball towards the back post. Barnes gets above his man and directs a header towards the far corner, which Dawkins tries to beat Ochoa to, but he can only collide with the keeper and the referee awards a free kick.

Jamaica are trying their utmost to get back into the game, but haven't produced the moment of magic in the final third needed to produce a clear-cut opportunity.

CHANCE! Mariappa beats Layun all ends up down the right and races towards the box. He fires a low ball across the face of goal and Reyes sticks out a leg to make the intervention, but it still travels towards the goal, although fortunately for Mexico it trickles just wide and oout for a corner.

There will be one minute of added time.

El Tri are on course to secure their seventh title in the current format of the Gold Cup thanks to Andres Guardado's strike in the 31st minute. Jesus Corona could have put his side ahead minutes beforehand, but he curled his effort past the post when well placed inside the box. Mexico's clinical edge in the final third has been the difference between the two sides this evening.

Jamaica were decent in the first half, but lacked an incisive moment in the final third to get a goal. Giles Barnes and Simon Dawkins have been busy harassing the Mexican defenders, but have had very little to feed off. The closest Winfried Schafer's side came to a goal was when Diego Reyes almost diverted Adrian Mariappa's cross into his own net. The Reggae Boys will have to find a spark from somewhere to get back into the match.

RESTART! We're back underway in the Gold Cup final.

Mexico double their lead in the opening minutes of the second half to take command of the match. Corona created the goal himself as he robbed Hector of the ball on the edge of the box and then drilled the ball into bottom corner past the outstretched hand of Thompson.

Jamaica look a bit shell shocked by the second goal from Mexico. They know face a huge task to wrestle back the initiative in the match to get a goal back.

CHANCE! Jamaica push numbers forward and Hector finds himself on the edge of the box to lay a ball into the path of McAnuff. The winger has space and time, but he can only direct his tame effort straight at Ochoa.

Mexico are working the ball well around the pitch and Jamaica are expending a lot of energy chasing the ball around the field in a desperate attempt to get back into the match.

Dawkins turns and sees the advancing run of Watson from midfield to slide a pass for him inside the box, but Dallas man can only lifts his cross over the bar without threatening Ochoa's net. He had to do better in that situation for the Reggae Boys.

SUBSTITUTION: McCleary makes way for Mattocks for Jamaica.

Peralta scores what could be the winning goal for El Tri as Herrera's men captitalise on a second mistake from Hector in the half, and the forward is left with a simple finish from close range to beat Thompson. Aguilar's low cross proved too much for the Reading defender to handle as he sliced his clearance against his leg and Peralta was right behind him ready to pounce.

The strike from Peralta seems to have taken the fight right out of Schafer's men. There's still time left in the game and stranger things have happenend, but they need to get a goal back immediately.

Barnes win a free kick down the left and Austin lifts the ball towards the back post, but neither Morgan or Hector are able to reach the ball as it sails out for a goal kick. Jamaica are running out of time.

CHANCE! Jamaica are all over the place at the back as Peralta pokes the ball forward and a botched clearance from Mariappa falls to Layun who raids inside the box. The wing-back fires a low strike towards goal, but Thompson makes a good stop with his body.

SUBSTITUTION: Humphrey comes on for Dawkins for the final 17 minutes.

CHANCE! Aguilar comes close to adding a fourth for El Tri as he raids forward from the right and feeds the ball into Peralta, who plays it straight back to the wing-back, before he strikes at goal, but Thompson makes the stop.

Hector makes amends for his earlier error as he stops the run of Peralta from bearing down on goal with an inch-perfect tackle in the box after the forward was played through by Dos Santos. That coud be an important tackle from the Reading man.

Jamaica get a goal back as Mattocks receives the ball down the left flank and then cuts inside Reyes before he fires a low strike which sails past Ochoa into the bottom corner. A fine effort from the forward and you have to wonder why he didn't get the nod to start this evening.

SUBSTITUTION: Esquivel comes on to replace Corona for El Tri.

Austin wastes a good chance to lift a cross into the box as he misses all the yellow shirts in the area as his cross is claimed with ease by Ochoa, which also allows El Tri to take time out of the game.

SUBSTITUTION: Orozco comes on for Duenas for the final five minutes of the match.

Mexico are doing well to take the pace out of the game. Jamaica are having a difficult time winning the ball back and injecting a fast tempo to the match as time slowly runs out.

McAnuff tries to take the initiative as he races down the left flank past Aguilar and then fires a low ball across the face of goal, but Ochoa provides a reassuring presence for his team by gathering the ball at the near post.

There's an air of desperation with the Reggae Boys now as Barnes gives away a free kick in the final third because of a foul of Aguilar as he tried to get past the defender.

There will be three minutes of added time.

CHANCE! Mexico chould add a fourth goal as Layun raids forward and exchanges passes with Peralta in the box to wrong foot Thompson. The wing-back should shoot, but he lays the ball back into the feet of the forward, but Lawrence gets back to make the challenge to keep the scoreline down.

MEXICO WIN THE GOLD CUP! El Tri have secured their 10th triumph in the Gold Cup and their seventh since the format was revised back in 1991 thanks to goals from Andres Guardado, Jesus Corona and Oribe Peralta at Lincoln Financial Field.

Miguel Herrera's men were clinical in the final third of the pitch which has given them the edge over Jamaica this evening, while the Reggae Boys will rue defensive mistakes they made in the second half. Winfried Schafer's side should not be too disappointed though as they performed well in the competition to reach the final and will benefit from the experience going forward.
