Alessandro Del Piero has confirmed that he will be playing for the Delhi Dynamos when the inaugural Indian Super League begins later this year.
The Italian, who has been a free agent since leaving Sydney FC in April, joins the likes of Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg and former Juventus teammate David Trezeguet in signing up to play a key ambassadorial role for the league.
"I am very enthusiastic about this new adventure, it fits perfectly well with the way in which I chose to move forward since I left Juventus three summers ago," Del Piero, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, revealed in a statement.
"I've never wanted repeat the paths I've already walked, I have never looked for emotions that I've already experienced, those are unique and will remain unique and special forever."
The ISL kicks off on October 12.
