Juventus have confirmed the signing of USA international Timothy Weah from Lille on a permanent deal.

The 23-year-old is understood to have penned a five-year deal with the Bianconeri until the summer of 2028, and Juve have paid €12m (£10.3m) to acquire his services.

By making the move to Serie A, Weah follows in the footsteps of his father - Liberia president and Ballon d'Or winner George Weah - who represented AC Milan between 1995 and 2000.

The USA international was only under contract at Lille until 2024, and he reportedly completed his medical tests with Juventus on Thursday prior to Saturday's announcement.

Weah departs Lille having scored eight goals and provided eight assists in 107 appearances for Les Dogues in all tournaments since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019.

Initially starting out as a winger, Weah contributed three goals from 28 games in Lille's Ligue 1 title-winning campaign in 2020-21, before also scooping the Trophee des Champions with Les Dogues that same year.

The American continued his development under Jocelyn Gourvennec with three goals and five assists in the 2021-22 season, before largely taking on a defensive role last term under Paulo Fonseca.

Weah ended the 2022-23 season with two assists from 32 games in all tournaments, starting 18 Ligue 1 matches and featuring as a right-back, left-back, centre-forward and right winger.

A 31-cap USA international, Weah has four goals and three assists for the Stars and Stripes, netting against Wales at the 2022 World Cup and recently winning the CONCACAF Nations League for the second time.

The New York-born winger previously spent five years on the books at PSG between 2014 and 2019, but he only played six senior games for the French champions, while he impressed during a six-month loan spell with Celtic in the second half of the 2018-19 season, scoring four goals in 17 games and winning a Scottish Premiership and Cup double.

Weah's arrival in Turin comes after the Bianconeri waved goodbye to long-serving right-back Juan Cuadrado, who is officially now a free agent after running down his Juve contract.

Cuadrado's exit brought an end to the Colombian's glittering eight-year stay at the Allianz Stadium, while attacking duo Dejan Kulusevski and Angel Di Maria have also left Massimiliano Allegri's side this summer, with the former joining Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal. body check tags ::
