Villarreal midfielder Giovani dos Santos has played down rumours suggesting that he is on the verge of signing for MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.

The 26-year-old has been tipped to join up with new Galaxy arrival Steven Gerrard, who is due to make his debut for the club this weekend.

While Dos Santos has not ruled out a future move to the United States, the midfielder has insisted that he is committed to Villarreal.

"[LA Galaxy are] a team that has always been after me and of course all the talks are just rumours and it's something that's been talked about for the past two years," Dos Santos told MLSsoccer.

"In soccer you never know where you will end up. Up to this day I have a contract with Villarreal. And of course I can't shut the doors to any team and as a soccer player you never know where you will end up tomorrow."

Dos Santos spent four years at Tottenham Hotspur from 2008 to 2012.
