There were no goals in the first half of the Euro 2016 qualifier between Latvia and Turkey this evening, despite the visitors creating numerous chances.
The visitors dominated the early possession, and came close to opening the scoring inside the first 10 minutes when Umut Bulut tried to slice the ball in from a cross, but his effort went wide.
Bulut had another chance a few minutes later, but his low strike from the centre of the box was well saved by Aleksandrs Kolinko.
Janis Ikaunieks had the first chance of the match for Latvia when he tried to head in from a cross, but his powerful finish was wide of the right post.
Kolinko had to make another save to deny Bulut late in the half as hit the ball first time following a ball in from the right, but the Latvia keeper kept it out with his fingertips.
Arda Turan unleashed a powerful effort from outside the box just before half time as Turkey continued to look for a goal, but he could not quite find the target, leaving the sides level at the break.
