Leeds United have confirmed that assistant coach Steve Thompson has been suspended from his duties.
News broke earlier today suggesting that the 50-year-old, who was only appointed by manager Neil Redfearn last December, had been shown the exit at Elland Road.
These initial reports have now been clarified by the Championship outfit, with director of football Nicola Salerno bringing down the axe on Thompson's short time at the club.
"This is an internal matter and the club will make no further comment on this internal issue," a short statement on the Whites' official site read.
Thompson's contract at Leeds is due to expire in the summer, meaning that his future at the club is essentially over.
United, who take on Blackburn Rovers this coming weekend, are currently 13th in the Championship table.
