Leeds United have allowed striker Mallik Wilks to join Doncaster Rovers on a season-long loan deal.

During the last campaign, Wilks was linked with a switch to a Premier League club, despite having only made one substitute outing for Leeds.

However, Wilks will now spend the next stage of his development at near neighbours Doncaster, and the youngster is delighted to be given the chance to earn more senior experience in League One.

The 19-year-old told the club's official website: "The gaffer came to watch me last season whilst I was at Accrington and he was at Peterborough, so I knew he had been after me for a while, he is a good manager and I know he will get the best out of me.

"I see Doncaster getting promotion to the Championship and I want to play a part in that, I won the league with Accrington last season and I want to keep progressing."

During the last campaign, Wilks spent separate spells at Accrington Stanley and Grimsby Town in League Two.
