Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton Diaz is reportedly attracting attention from four La Liga clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
On the back of contributing 22 goals and three assists in the Championship last season, Brereton Diaz had been expected to depart Ewood Park.
That feeling was strengthened by just a year remaining on his contract and having little interest in extending his stay at the second-tier club.
However, despite being linked with several Premier League clubs, including Leeds United and Everton, the Blackburn hierarchy opted against parting ways with the Chile international on the cheap.
Since then, Brereton Diaz has contributed four goals and one assist to help Rovers sit in third position in the Championship standings after nine games.
Nevertheless, providing that he does not pen fresh terms with Blackburn before the turn of the year, foreign clubs will be able to hold discussions with the versatile frontman in January.
According to Football Insider, as many as four teams from Spain are monitoring the situation ahead of upping their interest.
Villarreal, Celta Vigo, Real Sociedad and Valencia have all allegedly identified Brereton Diaz as a target for either January or the summer transfer window.
The report suggests that pre-contract agreements will be the priority, just months on from Blackburn reportedly demanding in the region of £15m for their most prized asset.
However, Blackburn may be in a position where they may want to consider financial offers, depending on where they may be sitting in the second-tier table and what alternatives are on the market.
From Brereton Diaz's perspective, he may be prepared to stay put, aware that he would be inundated with offers if he became a free agent.
The former Nottingham Forest youngster has not always performed at his current level, scoring no more than seven league goals in a season before fulfilling his potential during 2021-22.
His reputation on the global scene has also been enhanced having scored four times in 14 appearances for Chile since making his debut in June 2021.
