Leeds United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has allegedly been axed by club owner Massimo Cellino.
The shot-stopper, who was born on May 17, has bizarrely been exiled due to the Italian's superstitious dislike of the number 17, according to the Daily Star.
Cellino is also said to have told Kenny that his fitness level is unacceptable and ordered him to lose weight.
"To say this is strange is an understatement, but once he discovered the player's birthday fell on the 17th of a month then he didn't want him to be picked," a Leeds source told the newspaper.
"There are other issues with the player that he is concerned about, but his hatred of the number 17 knows no bounds."
The businessman claims that his former club Cagliari never won a game on the 17th of any month, which prompted him to remove all number 17 seats from their stadium and replace them with 16B.
Leeds have completed the signing of Reading goalkeeper Stuart Taylor on a free transfer, casting further doubt on Kenny's future.
