Leeds United are reportedly eager to sign a Championship winger to replace Crysencio Summerville, who has joined West Ham United.

Leeds United have reportedly received a response to an offer for Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe.

The Yorkshire giants have been cashing in on a wide array of players throughout the summer transfer window having missed out on an immediate return to the Premier League.

Crysencio Summerville's future was a hot topic for debate before the Dutchman made the switch to West Ham United for a fee in the region of £25m on Saturday night.

Having failed to sign a wide midfielder ahead of the new Championship campaign, which commences on Friday, head coach Daniel Farke is in the market for a like-for-like replacement.

Previous reports have indicated that Fenerbahce winger Ryan Kent could be on their radar, it yet to be seen whether that interest will be stepped up in due course.

While bringing in Kent would be viewed as an astute piece of business, it appears that Leeds are prepared to pay far more money to find a suitable alternative for Summerville.

Leeds to push hard for Rowe?

According to Football Insider, Leeds have put forward an official proposal for Norwich winger Rowe.

The England Under-21 international has emerged as one of the top prospects in the Championship, contributing 12 goals and two assists from 32 outings during 2023-24.

His development was halted by injury last season, yet his performances have continued to attract attention from the Premier League and second tier.

Leeds are said to have offered in the region of £7m for the 21-year-old, a bid that was rejected by Norwich who may be looking for close to double that amount.

Norwich's position is weakened by Rowe possessing less than 12 months remaining on his contract and the Canaries likely not being prepared to risk losing their most prized asset on a free transfer.

Although Norwich do have the option of extending his terms by an extra 12 months, it is felt that the player is ready to take on a new challenge.

Do Leeds or Norwich have to act fast?

With Norwich having yet to sign a single attack-minded player during the summer transfer window, they could theoretically benefit from some clarity over Rowe or to generate the sum that they desire.

If they wait long enough, that may come from a Premier League side later in the transfer window, with Rowe potentially of the same opinion.

As a result, Leeds could probably benefit from wrapping up a deal as soon as possible, arguing to Rowe that a move to Elland Road represents his best chance of regular game time at this stage of his career. body check tags ::
