Leeds United are preparing to lodge an improved bid to sign Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson this month, according to a report.
The Whites are understood to have had a £15m offer for the 21-year-old rejected by the Austrian outfit last week.
However, Leeds director of football Victor Orta views the USA international as an 'ideal addition' for Marcelo Bielsa's side and they are prepared to test the waters again before the January 31 deadline.
According to LeedsLive, the Whites are expected to return with an improved offer for Aaronson, though the opportunity of continuing in the Champions League with Salzburg could persuade him to stay put for the rest of this season.
The report adds that Leeds do not believe the club's ongoing legal dispute with Salzburg's sister club RB Leipzig – regarding the transfer of Jean-Kevin Augustin in 2020 – will affect any negotiations with the Austrian side.
Aaronson, who is believed to be Leeds's primary target in this month's window, has been a standout performer since joining Salzburg from Philadelphia Union last year, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions. body check tags ::
