Leeds United are reportedly interested in bringing Cagliari defender Davide Astori to Elland Road.
The 27-year-old impressed for the Sardinian club last season as they finished 15th in Serie A.
According to The Express, Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has offered £4m for the Italian international, but Cagliari are said to want double that fee.
A number of clubs are believed to be interested in Astori, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton keen to bring him to the Premier League.
The report goes on to say that Astori may decide to stay in Italy as he previously turned down the chance to move to Spartak Moscow after Cagliari had agreed a £12m fee with the Russian club.
Astori has won seven caps for the Italian national side since making his debut in 2011.
