Middlesbrough have reportedly been offered the chance to sign former Leicester City defender Sol Bamba.
The 30-year-old has been told that he is surplus to requirements at current side Palermo.
Bamba was loaned out to Leeds United during the second half of last season, where he made 19 appearances in the Championship.
The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a return to Elland Road this summer, with reports suggesting that the Whites have offered him a contract.
Boro head coach Aitor Karanka is expected to be in the market for new centre-halves, with Kenneth Omeruo and Fernando Amorebieta having returned to Chelsea and Fulham respectively following the expiry of their loan deals.
Bamba's representatives have contacted Boro in an attempt to generate interest in the stopper, according to the Northern Echo.
Bamba has made just one appearance for Palermo since joining from Trabzonspor last summer.
