Swansea City have reportedly edged out two of their Championship rivals to the signing of former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean Clare.
The 21-year-old has been without a club over the summer after turning down the offer of a new contract at Hillsborough.
Clare, who made five appearances for the Owls last term following a short spell on loan at Gillingham, is rumoured to have held talks with Swans boss Graham Potter last week.
According to Sky Sports News, the Hackney-born youngster is on course to finalise a switch to Swansea before the end of the week, despite interest from fellow second-tier sides Leeds United and Aston Villa.
Sheffield Wednesday will be paid a compensation payment for Clare as he is aged under 23.
