Nigel Pearson: Stoke City loss a "missed opportunity"

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson admits that the 1-0 home defeat to Stoke feels like a "missed opportunity" as the majority of their Premier League relegation rivals lose.

Nigel Pearson was frustrated that Leicester City failed to capitalise on their relegation rivals losing as they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Stoke City.

Burnley, Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland all lost in the Premier League on an afternoon when the Foxes went down to a Bojan goal at the King Power Stadium.

Pearson feels that it was a "missed opportunity" for Leicester to move off the bottom of the table, but admitted that his side were below par and lacked creativity as they were outfoxed by an experienced Stoke outfit.

"They have Premier League know-how, there is no doubt about that. They are a big, powerful side, and on the day we didn't find our own levels either," he told reporters.

"Once they got in front they made it very difficult for us to make any inroads into their defensive third and that is frustrating because you hope for a chance or two. I am disappointed because of how other results have gone. It is a missed opportunity for us.

"There wasn't a great deal in the game. We didn't find the level of performance on the day as we have done of late. But there is no point dwelling too much on it. We have to move on."

The defeat brought to an end Leicester's four-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
