Craig Shakespeare "struggling to digest" Liverpool defeat

Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare says that Jamie Vardy will be "gutted" after missing from the spot against Liverpool, as he rues his side's 3-2 loss.

Craig Shakespeare has admitted that he is "struggling to digest" Leicester City's narrow defeat to Liverpool after seeing his side throw away a big chance to earn a point.

The Foxes dug deep at 2-0 and 3-1 down at the King Power Stadium before, with the scoreline at 3-2, Jamie Vardy saw his penalty saved by opposition keeper Simon Mignolet.

Shakespeare admits that he is upset with certain aspects of his side's game, but was ultimately left ruing what could have been had England international Vardy converted from 12 yards.

"I am struggling to digest it myself. You come in and contribute to another fabulous game of football but ultimately came away with nothing," he told BBC Sport.

"Penalties are there and players have missed them before. Jamie will be gutted himself because we would have come away with the points. The disappointing thing for me was at 2-1 down we conceded a third goal. It was a difficult game for us - it ebbed and flowed but we go away disappointed."

Leicester are down in 16th place in the Premier League table after winning just one of their first six games.
