Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed Claude Puel to make an impact in his new role as boss of Leicester City.
Earlier this week, the Foxes announced that Puel had been chosen as a replacement for Craig Shakespeare, despite only having been sacked as Southampton boss four months ago.
The decision has been met by a mixed reception, but Wenger feels that the East Midlands outfit have made a good call in appointing Puel, who worked under Wenger during his playing days at Monaco.
The Gunners boss told reporters: "Claude is competent, he's a worker and is highly focused. I'm sure that he will continue and develop at Leicester. They made a good appointment."
Puel recorded 20 wins and 20 defeats during his 53 games in charge with the Saints.
