Hull City held on with 10 men to claim a goalless draw against Leicester City, who were desperate for a much-needed win as they sit at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Nikica Jelavic had the best chance of the game at the King Power Stadium, but it was not to be as they finished the game without Tom Huddlestone, who was sent off for two bookable offences.

Leicester played well throughout the contest, but once again failed to make an impact in the final third.

Was the result fair?

In short, yes. Today's fixture was crucial for both teams, but more so Leicester as they continue to languish at the bottom of the table after 28 games. It was a must win for manager Nigel Pearson and his team, but, like so many other times this season, they failed to take their opportunities. Hull should have gone in front in the first half, but Jelavic fluffed their biggest chance of the game.

Leicester's performance

Nothing new to report - they played well and created attacking plays throughout the game, but it just didn't come off for them. Andrej Kramaric had a rather disappointing game, and David Nugent perhaps should have been brought into the action earlier than the final 10 minutes of the encounter. Unfortunately for the Foxes, it looks as though they will be moving back to the Championship by the end of the season as the seven-point gap seems too great to make up in 10 games.

Hull's performance

Steve Bruce's side should have taken the lead in the first half, and they played relatively well when on the front foot. Their defence were solid throughout, and Leicester's long-ball tactics played right into their hands as Michael Dawson, Alex Bruce and Paul McShane looked comfortable.

Michael Dawson: The defender was solid throughout the game and was always on hand to cut out balls into the box and prevent Leicester from causing much danger from set pieces. He was unlucky to be booked for a challenge on Jamie Vardy.

Biggest gaffe

This wasn't a difficult one! Twenty minutes into the match, Jelavic received a perfect pass from Huddlestone, and, in front of an open goal, the striker could not find his feet and ended up fluffing the opportunity, sending the ball out for a goal kick.

Referee performance

Jon Moss started the game well and looked in control of proceedings, but he got it wrong with two bookings in the game. Dawson and Bruce were given yellow cards for what were well-timed challenges in the second half. Not the best of decisions from the match official as both defenders had to be extra careful for the remainder of the game.
