Leicester City snatch a point against Middlesbrough as an Islam Slimani penalty deep into injury time helps the Foxes to a 2-2 draw.

Leicester City have snatched a point against Middlesbrough in dramatic circumstances as an Islam Slimani penalty deep into injury time helped the Foxes to a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

The Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium began tentatively, with both sides feeling each other out, but the visitors went on to take the lead in the 13th minute through Alvaro Negredo.

The Spaniard was in the right place at the right time as he latched on to Gaston Ramirez's low cross and swept the ball home from 12 yards out, ending a drought of 10 consecutive starts without a goal.

Claudio Ranieri's charges improved as the game went on and, just after the half-hour mark, Shinji Okazaki rattled the Boro crossbar with an acrobatic bicycle kick.

Minutes later, the Foxes were awarded a penalty after Calum Chambers handballed in the area, and Riyad Mahrez stepped up to confidently rifle the ball low into the corner of the net, off the inside of the post.

The first half ended with both sides level, despite Leicester coming close late on through Jamie Vardy, but Ramirez got back in the nick of time to get a boot onto the ball as the England striker connected, sending the ball out of play.

Negredo then put Boro back in front 72 minutes in when, against the run of play, he latched on to a long ball and clinically dispatched a low shot past Foxes goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler.

Just as it seemed like Aitor Karanka's charges would leave the East Midlands with all three points, a late challenge in the Boro box from Marten de Roon on Wes Morgan gave Leicester the chance to draw level from the penalty spot for the second time in the game.

Slimani stepped up and, despite the immense pressure, sidefooted the ball down the middle to salvage a share of the spoils for his side just moments before the final whistle.
