Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare is reportedly prepared to leave the club for Sevilla in January.
The 25-year-old was an unused substitute on Saturday afternoon at St Mary's, where the Foxes recorded a much-needed 3-2 win over strugglers Southampton.
It looked as if the two sides were about to share the points, although Leicester enjoyed the last laugh, with summer arrival Jordan Ayew netting a 98th-minute winner.
Since the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, Soumare has featured on just two separate occasions in the Premier League, amounting to 13 minutes of top-flight football.
The Frenchman's only start in a competitive sense so far this season arrived in the West Midlands on September 24, when Steve Cooper's side faced Walsall in the third round of the EFL Cup.
Leicester man Soumare wants to leave in January?
According to Spanish outlet El Sevillista, Leicester midfielder Soumare is edging towards an exit from the King Power Stadium in the New Year.
The report claims that the 25-year-old has decided that he wants to leave the Foxes during the upcoming January transfer window following a difficult start to the term.
Soumare is supposedly unhappy with his lack of first-team minutes, with Cooper preferring the likes of Harry Winks and Wilfred Ndidi in the engine room.
Sevilla are allegedly interested in taking the midfielder on a temporary deal during January until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
It is believed that the arrangement would include an option for the La Liga side to purchase Soumare permanently over the summer transfer window.
Soumare's Spanish retreat
While Enzo Maresca's Leicester were slogging away in the Championship last season, Soumare was enjoying the glitz and glamour of Spain's top flight.
The former Lille enforcer spent the 2023-24 term on loan at Sevilla, for whom he made 34 competitive appearances, including four in the Champions League.
Soumare is said to have enjoyed his time at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, leading to his desire of a switch back to the Spanish outfit in the New Year.
Sevilla had the option to buy the Frenchman for £12.5m over the summer but decided against a permanent transfer at that stage due to financial issues. body check tags ::
