Sergio Garcia helped Espanyol fight back from a goal down to beat Levante 2-1 for their first win in six La Liga games.
The hosts trailed thanks to a 12th-minute strike from Jose Luis Morales following a well-worked set piece from the visitors to Catalonia.
Espanyol felt that they had a case for a penalty for handball by Mohamed Sissoko, but they drew level midway through the first half when Felipe Caicedo seized upon Lucas Vasquez's deflected shot to score against his former club.
Levante forward Victor Casadesus thought that he had restored the away side's lead, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Instead, it was Espanyol who would score what turned out to be the winning goal when Garcia breezed past three defenders before unleashing a curling shot into the corner of the net.
In the dying minutes of the second half, the visitors came close to taking a share of the spoils when David Navarro rose highest at a corner, but he failed to guide his effort on target as Espanyol held on for a 2-1 victory.
