Levante have given their hopes of La Liga survival a boost after narrowly edging basement side Cordoba 1-0 in their league clash at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia.
The hosts were quickest off the starting blocks as Simao fired over from Jose Morales's cross in the fifth minute before Cordoba countered through Bebe, who forced a save from Diego Marino moments later.
Both sides continued to trade blows in the early stages but Levante soon upped the tempo and began dominating proceedings, which led to their breakthrough four minutes before the break through David Barral.
Inigo Lopez nodded just wide on the stroke of half time, while Bebe and Fede Cartabia came close for the visitors after the break, but Lucas Alcaraz's charges hung on for the win.
The result sees Levante climb to 14th in the La Liga table, six points above the drop zone, while Cordoba are all but doomed to relegation as they sit 11 points from safety with just four games left.
