Lille climbed into 10th spot in the Ligue 1 table this evening after goals from Nolan Roux and Marcos Lopes gave them a comfortable 2-1 win over Montpellier HSC.
The visitors took the lead after only nine minutes played when Roux found space in the box to convert past Geoffrey Jourdren into the centre of goal.
Montpellier sought to claw themselves back into the game when Morgan Sanson played in Lucas Barrios, but Lille stopper Vincent Enyeama pulled off a smart save down at the bottom-left corner.
The home side piled on the pressure as the first half drew to a close and they almost found a leveller through a persistent Barrios, only for Enyeama to produce another important save.
The miss was to prove vital given that Lille grabbed another goal early in the second half as Lopes completed a simple tap in from a few yards out in the 53rd minute.
Souleymane Camara might have brought about a tense finish with just under 20 minutes to play, but his header from Sanson's cross flew wide of the target.
The home side were able to grab a consolation in injury time through Bryan Dabo, but it was too little, too late as Lille claimed all three points.
