Trent Alexander-Arnold has said that Liverpool now have 'a target on their backs' as a result of winning last season's Champions League.
The Merseyside giants marked a second successive appearance in the final by seeing off Tottenham Hotspur, while they also sit top of the Premier League standings after five wins in a row.
Ahead of their European opener at Napoli on Tuesday night, the right-back feels that Jurgen Klopp's side have become the team to beat on the continent.
The England international is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "We've probably got a big target on our backs now because we are European champions. Everyone wants to beat us - we're the team to beat right now so it's exciting for us.
"We need to try and defend the honour as much as possible and try and retain it if we can."
As well as Napoli, Liverpool have been drawn alongside RB Salzburg and Genk in the group stages.
