Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Braut Haaland had emerged as a doubt for Wednesday night's Champions League fixture at Liverpool.
The youngster produced arguably the performance of matchday one by netting a hat-trick in the 6-2 victory over Genk, setting up the mouth-watering prospect of a head-to-head battle with Virgil van Dijk this week.
However, sporting director Christoph Freund has indicated that the Norwegian faces a race against time to be fit for the clash at Anfield.
Freund told Viasat: "The next two days are important. He is checked by a doctor every day. He's sick, and we don't quite know when he will be back. Hopefully over the next few days."
Since his treble against the Belgian outfit, Haaland has been linked with a future move to the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and Barcelona.
