Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has branded the decision to overturn Manchester City’s European ban “a disgrace” while Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said it was not “a good day for football”.
City saw their two-year expulsion from UEFA competitions lifted by Court of Arbitration for Sport on Monday, meaning they are free to compete in next season’s Champions League.
Their initial fine of 30million euros was also reduced to 10million euros (just under £9million) by the CAS.
“They are going to be in the Champions League because they deserve it for what they have done on the pitch and what they have done outside of the pitch.”
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo insists the CAS decision will have no impact on his team, who must bridge a four-point gap to the top four in their remaining three league matches or win the Europa League if they are to qualify for the Champions League.
Nuno said: “It is decided. It is not related to us.
“It is something that I don’t read about. It is something that is not our focus. Our focus is to prepare well and compete well game by game and we will see what happens.”
