Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has expressed his relief following the team's narrow win over Ludogorets Razgrad in the Champions League.
The Reds, who were playing their first match in the competition since 2009-10, needed a stoppage-time penalty from Steven Gerrard to clinch a 2-1 victory at Anfield on Tuesday.
Despite being made to work for the win against the Bulgarians, Moreno believes that the Merseysiders were worthy of the spoils.
"It was a tough game, a complicated game," he told the club's official website. "We were up against a very strong Ludogorets and we knew there was no guarantee of the three points and that we were going to have to do a good job.
"The team did a good job and when you lose it in the last few minutes with the equaliser but then get a goal in your favour, it's a great delight, especially for the job the team did. It was a hard game and we're happy with the three points."
Liverpool are back in Premier League action on Saturday evening when they face West Ham United at Upton Park.
