Brendan Rodgers is adamant that his Liverpool team displayed their character, despite throwing away a lead against Ludogorets Razgrad in Bulgaria.
The Reds fell behind early on when Dani Abalo scored, but goals from Rickie Lambert and Jordan Henderson had looked to give the Merseysiders a crucial win in their quest for a last-16 berth.
Georgi Terziev grabbed a late equaliser for Ludogorets, but Rodgers has insisted that Liverpool can take positives from their performance.
He told Sky Sports News: "To go a goal behind so early on you really need a team that is together and I think the character of the team came out.
"We spoke before the game that this needs to be the night to change our season and for that we needed to show the character in our team.
"We are disappointed with the goal we conceded in the end but is irrelevant, we need to beat Basel in the final game."
Liverpool can only qualify with a victory over Basel at Anfield next month.
