Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his side showed great character during their 5-3 victory over Young Boys in the Europa League.
Jonjo Shelvey came off the bench to score twice and give an inexperienced Reds team a winning start to their European campaign.
"I've got to give credit to the players, I thought they were absolutely magnificent. We had a very, very young side," Rodgers told reporters.
"I thought the boys were brilliant. It was a really tough game for us. The biggest thing we showed tonight, alongside our quality, was our character."
The Merseysiders resume their Premier League duties on Sunday when they host Manchester United at Anfield.
