Read what else the manager discussed below.
Good afternoon! Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be speaking to the media shortly as he prepares his side for an FA Cup quarter-final against Blackburn Rovers at Anfield. The winner will play their last-four tie at Wembley.
Liverpool put their exit from the Europa League behind them with a win over Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend, before beating Burnley midweek. In fact, the defeat to Besktas is their only loss in 10 matches in all competitions.
Here's the manager, seemingly quite happy during a training session with his players earlier:
Club captain Steven Gerrard has also been back in training recently. He hasn't featured for several weeks with a hamstring injury, but it looks like he could be ready to feature this weekend. Rodgers should provide a full update on his squad's fitness in his press conference.
Don't forget, we'll have live coverage of this match on Sunday, as well as all the build up, team news and post-match reaction, so make sure you're with us then to find out if Liverpool can progress.
After this match, it's a tricky run of fixtures in the league for Liverpool. Rodgers will take his side to old club Swansea next week before hosting Man Utd, who were the last side to beat Liverpool in the league.
Right then, the manager is ready to speak, so let's see what he has to say this week.
First up it's the captain's fitness, and Rodgers reveals that he'll be assessed over the coming days: "Steven Gerrard is with the rehab team. We will assess that in the next couple of days."
Like many managers, Rodgers is asked about the spitting incident in Newcastle's game against Man Utd. He says: "It's certainly something that isn't right in football or any social life."
Rodgers says that dangerous possession is key for his side: "What's important is dangerous possession. You can still dominate a game when not having the ball."
While Gerrard is injured, Jordan Henderson has been captaining the side, and Rodgers is full of praise for the midfielder: "For me, he's just improving every single day I see him. Tactically he's developing, he's a first class footballer."
It was announced this week that Luis Suarez will play in a charity match at Anfield during the international break later this month, and Rodgers admits that it will be good to see him back at the club: "It'll be great. He's making an effort to come back. Great to see him. It'll be nice for him in that game. He'll probably want to win that game as well."
On this weekend's opponents, Rodgers tells reporters: 'Gary [Bowyer] has done an outstanding job since he's been there and under very difficult circumstances he's stabilised the club. His team got their first win away for four months in the week."
As always, the race for a Champions League spot comes up, and Rodgers reiterates: "My first year here was about integration, second year objective was to get in the Championship League, this season I felt we had the depth to challenge for trophies. If we can arrive in the top four and win a trophy that will be a success for us this season."
Rodgers says that he is particularly happy with the turn-around in defence in recent weeks: "What's pleasing is the amount of poor goals we were conceding, that was the key for us, we made too many mistakes."
While there's a chance to play at Wembley by winning this match, Rodgers says that he wishes it was just the final at the London stadium: "In many ways I wish the semi-finals weren't at Wembley as I think it takes something away from it, Wembley should be just for the final."
Rodgers is asked whether Gerrard will be back in the squad once he is fit again, and he responds: "Nobody has a God-given right to walk into the team. Having Steven Gerrard back will be better for our squad. There's no story here because he's not fit yet. You should stop trying to put pressure on Jordan Henderson. Just because he shoots from outside the box doesn't mean he's Steven Gerrard. He's making his own headlines. I'd tell every young player to copy Gerrard."
Well, that's it from Rodgers for now, so join us again on Sunday to find out if Liverpool can book their place in the last four at he FA Cup. Until then, thanks for joining me this afternoon. Goodbye.
