Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale admits that he is disappointed by his side's FA Cup exit to Liverpool, but believes that they can be proud of their efforts.

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has said that he is "proud" of his side's efforts over their two FA Cup meetings with Liverpool.

The League Two outfit earned an Anfield replay by holding their Premier League opponents to a draw at St James Park, but Liverpool's quality shone through with a 3-0 victory this evening.

Tisdale admitted that he was disappointed by the result and his side's first-half display, but believes that they can still hold their heads up high.

"It's not so much frustrating, more disappointing. But also proud of what we've achieved. We had our chance in the first game, I think that's the reality of it," Tisdale told BT Sport.

"We've come here tonight and we wanted to enjoy it but also put on a performance with some intent and some purpose. It took us a while to get that into our game, to be honest.

"We lacked real purpose in the first half and it took us a while to get going, but we knew as soon as we put more attacking players on near the end it would open up, and it did."

Liverpool will now face West Ham United in the fourth round at the end of this month.
