Project Restart: Burnley's remaining 2019-20 Premier League fixtures

Ahead of the Premier League restart next week, Sports Mole looks at the remaining fixtures facing Burnley.

Burnley have plenty left to play for across their final nine fixtures as they gear up for the return of Premier League football next week.

The Clarets went seven matches without defeat prior to England's top flight being brought to a halt in early March, owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sitting 10th in the division ahead of the final straight, Sean Dyche will be eyeing European football next term, with seventh place possibly enough for a Europa League qualifying spot.

That position is currently occupied by Sheffield United, who are four points better off with a game in hand, but Burnley still have plenty of matches to bridge the game.

Hitting the ground running may be difficult, though, as first up for the Lancashire outfit is a trip to reigning champions Manchester City a week on Monday.

Burnley still have to travel to runaway league leaders Liverpool, while Sheff Utd and Wolverhampton Wanderers will also be tricky opponents on July 4 and 15 respectively.

Those two fixtures against United and Wolves could prove particularly important given the tight nature of the division from fifth down to 11th.

Those challenging games aside, the Clarets have a favourable run-in against sides mainly languishing at the wrong end of the division.

Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion will travel to Turf Moor in the closing weeks of the campaign, with those two teams at serious risk of dropping down to the Championship.

Dyche's men have winnable trips to London pair West Ham United and Crystal Palace to come, meanwhile, as well as a trip to bottom side Norwich City on the penultimate weekend.
