A dominant Liverpool hold a 1-0 lead at half time in their Premier League opener against Stoke City at Anfield.
Liverpool's goal arrived courtesy of Daniel Sturridge in the 38th minute, as the striker found the bottom corner from the edge of the box to give Asmir Begovic little chance.
It was Stoke, however, who had the first chance of the game as Robert Huth crashed a loose ball against the post.
Two minutes later Sturridge had the ball in the net, but he had just made his run from a free kick too early and was adjudged offside.
He then struck the bar with a header from a corner as the frantic opening continued.
Just before the half-hour mark Begovic made a fine stop from Jose Enrique as Liverpool piled on the pressure, and he made another from Iago Aspas before being finally beaten by Sturridge.
There was time for a late stop from Simon Mignolet, who kept out Jon Walters acrobatically from his shot from the edge of the box.
