Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reveals that Alisson Becker has suffered a hamstring injury which will likely rule him out for up to two weeks.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Alisson Becker is set for a two-week spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

The Premier League champions have seen their medical room slowly welcome more and more players over the past few weeks, with James Milner also suffering an injury in the same area in the draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Caoimhin Kelleher earned plenty of plaudits for his performance in Liverpool's Champions League victory over Ajax, but Klopp has now revealed the solemn news that Alisson will join the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Thiago Alcantara and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the treatment room.

Speaking to BT Sport before the Ajax victory, Klopp said: "It is not COVID. That is something we have to mention when it is not the case, and it is not the case. He told us after the game [against Brighton] he felt his hamstring in the 60th or 70th minute.

"A little one but enough for today and probably for another week, we will have to wait and see. I have never heard of a hamstring that is only four or five days so it will be 10 to 14 days, I think."

Alisson is therefore expected to miss Liverpool's Premier League clashes with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham, as well as their final Champions League group game with FC Midtjylland, but the Brazilian shot-stopper could return in time for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur on December 16.
