Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge will play no part during Liverpool's Europa League clash against Sion tomorrow night.
The striker has recently returned to fitness following an 18-month period of different injuries.
However, despite the fact that he is available for the encounter at Anfield, Rodgers has revealed that the 26-year-old will be rested to avoid any setbacks.
"Daniel has worked very hard and has come back ahead of schedule but we just have to make sure we don't break him at this stage," the Liverpool boss told reporters.
"He won't be involved in the game, which will keep him fresh and help work towards his fitness for the weekend."
Sturridge scored twice during Liverpool's 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
