Liverpool draw 1-1 with Sion in the Europa League.

Liverpool drew their second successive Europa League match this evening after Adam Lallana's opener was cancelled out by Sion's Ebenezer Assifuah.

Lallana gave Liverpool the lead after just four minutes when he fired into the net after Divock Origi's cutback.

The Reds controlled the opening 15 minutes and Origi caused more problems when he played in Jordon Ibe, but the 19-year-old's shot was saved by Andris Vanins.

Assifuah scored the equaliser in the 18th minute when Xavier Kouassi pounced on a mistake by Nathaniel Clyne, and Assifuah finished off the attack with aplomb.

Liverpool thought they had retaken the lead immediately when Danny Ings celebrated his England call-up by finishing from close range, but the assistant referee's flag went up and the goal was ruled out for offside.

Origi had a chance to give Liverpool the lead just before the break but was closed down by a defender.

Carlitos nearly gave Sion a sensational lead just after the break but his long-range effort was saved by Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool had chances in the second half to grab the victory, but Philippe Coutinho was unable to beat Vanins.

The goalkeeper was in fine form and he kept out Origi with 20 minutes to go, and was called into action by Lallana late in the match but made the save to earn his team a point.
