Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that the injury that Daniel Sturridge picked up while on international duty could have been prevented.
Sturridge, 25, picked up the injury while training for England ahead of the qualifying campaign that began against Switzerland on Monday.
Rodgers told TalkSport: "We're disappointed because we feel it's an injury which could have been prevented.
"Clubs work differently to international teams. It's the recovery strategy. When we look at our players here, we look at them individually, in terms of what their needs are."
Liverpool will host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday at Anfield as Mario Balotelli is set to replace the injured Sturridge.
