Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler believes that the team can hold their "heads up high", despite getting knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The Merseyside outfit pushed the Blues to extra time at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the semi-final, but a goal from Branislav Ivanovic sealed a 2-1 aggregate victory for Chelsea.
"We gave a good account of ourselves against a Chelsea team who I think will probably win the Premier League this year," Fowler told the club's official website.
"They struggled to break us down. We more than matched them in every department other than the goals and I think [goals] will come for Liverpool.
"I think the potential is there. It's plain for all to see. We've lost the game and we've lost the tie, but I think we can hold our heads up high."
In the league, Liverpool are currently eighth in the table, five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
