Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has played down Simon Mignolet's goalkeeping error in Sunday's League Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
The Belgium international failed to stop Fernandinho's strike in the first half, and despite Philippe Coutinho pushing the game into extra time with an equaliser, the Reds lost on penalties.
"I think you found a perfect moment to come here and ask about Mignolet," Klopp told Belgian TV. "I would lie if I said the goal in the final was unstoppable but Simon knows this too. It is how it is.
"I'm not sure it's a mistake but it was not perfect, and that's how it is in a goalkeeper's life. I cannot say nothing negative about Mignolet as a person - good boy, big personality, a lot of pressure. He's old enough, he's experienced enough and we have to go through it together."
Mignolet, who joined the Reds from Sunderland in 2013, recently signed a new five-year contract.
