Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Liverpool on Wednesday, December 2.

The summer transfer window has now closed and attention will begin to turn to January for Premier League champions Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side brought in Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas during the summer, making for one of their busier transfer windows in the last couple of years.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Anfield.

Wednesday morning's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:

Chelsea 'leading race for David Alaba'

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to make an approach for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba during the January transfer window.

Despite remaining as a key man at the Allianz Arena, Alaba's contract is due to expire in 2021, which has naturally led to widespread interest in his signature.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona were all linked with a move for the Austria international during the summer.

However, according to AS, Chelsea could make a formal bid in January, despite the 28-year-old being available on a free transfer later in 2021.

The report suggests that the Blues want to tempt Bayern into a sale for a cut-price fee, rather than giving the Champions League winners more time to agree fresh terms with the player.

Negotiations between Bayern and Alaba have allegedly come to a halt with Bayern unprepared to meet his wage demands.

Liverpool 'could sign Perr Schuurs for £27m in January'

Liverpool could reportedly be set to sign Ajax defender Perr Schuurs in January as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his injury-stricken squad.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are both out for an extended period with serious injuries, and six others are currently on the treatment table.

As a result, the Reds head coach could turn his attention to 21-year-old Dutchman Schuurs, who has been valued at around £27 million by Ajax, according to Dutch journalist Mike Verweij, speaking to De Telegraaf.

Liverpool's Champions League clash with the Eredivisie leaders tonight is the perfect opportunity for Klopp to assess Schuurs as he weighs up the possibility of a move for the centre-back.

Schuurs has been a regular fixture in the Ajax back-line this season, making 13 appearances across all competitions out of a possible 14.
