John Aldridge has claimed that Jordon Ibe is the "ideal replacement" for Raheem Sterling at Liverpool.
The 20-year-old is on the verge of leaving the Reds after Manchester City reportedly agreed a £49m fee to sign the England international.
Aldridge believes that Brendan Rodgers's men are well equipped to survive without the winger due to the presence of Ibe, who he feels can eventually offer more than Sterling.
He told Sky Sports News: "There's a young player called Jordon Ibe and I've watched the progress of both Raheem and Jordon since they were both 15 or 16, and in my humble opinion, Jordon has got as much to give if not more than Raheem.
"Time will tell, but he's an ideal replacement; he's going to be a fantastic player both for Liverpool and England in the future."
Ibe spent the majority of last season on loan at Derby County, where he made 24 appearances and notched five goals.
