Vurnon Anita has urged his Newcastle United teammates to erase the memories of last season's thrashing by Liverpool when the sides meet in the Premier League this weekend.
The Magpies were hammered 6-0 at St James' Park back in April, with Daniel Sturridge scoring a hat-trick for the visitors.
Anita now wants Newcastle to gain revenge on Saturday when the Reds return to Tyneside.
"The last game against Liverpool was obviously not good for us. We are in better shape and a better mood now," the Dutchman told The Chronicle.
"We have to put what happened to one side but we cannot completely forget what they did to us. It is now our turn to do it against them.
"I think both teams are actually better than last season. It is going to be a good game, a tough game, and one we are looking forward to."
Newcastle are currently in 11th place in the Premier League table.
