Etienne Capoue has said that he was right to delay his move from Toulouse to the Premier League.
The defender joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, but had been a target of Liverpool's in 2011.
The 25-year-old told The Telegraph: "I think it was the right decision. I knew English clubs were interested in me, but one reason why I didn't come earlier was because the chairman didn't agree and the other reason was that I wasn't really ready for the Premier League.
"It's a very competitive club and a strong club. It's what I wanted. I want to get in to the Champions League here and also I had the confidence of the coach. The fact that many different people have come from different countries and different continents has made a really good atmosphere in the team.
"In France it's not the same. Here people seem to live off football and that gave me a new taste for football, the spirit, the people, the mentality, the atmosphere in the stadium and very good competition within the clubs."
