Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has claimed that Everton were unlucky not to prevail in Sunday's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
Although the game ended in a goalless draw, the Toffees squandered numerous opportunities during the closing stages to inflict just a second Premier League defeat on the leaders.
Despite Liverpool having the better of possession, Carragher feels that Everton would have been good value for maximum points had they found a late goal.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, the ex-defender said: "I thought Everton deserved to win. You can talk about Liverpool having the possession, but it's about what you create and the chances that you make.
"Everton allowed Liverpool to have possession because they know they can't take them on in that type of game. It was easy for Liverpool to dominate possession, but when you get that much possession in the opposition's half, it's about what you can do with it."
Ahead of Manchester City's fixture with Burnley on Monday evening, Liverpool still require five points to win the top flight for the first time in 30 years.
