Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has expressed his pride in seeing two local players performing well during the Merseyside derby.
Reds full-back Jon Flanagan and Everton midfielder Ross Barkley received plaudits for their displays in last Saturday's 3-3 draw at Goodison Park.
"It was great for me to see two local lads on opposite sides who were the two outstanding outfield players on the pitch," the Liverpool Echo quotes Carragher as saying.
"I thought the best player on the pitch was Simon Mignolet, but in terms of outfield players it was Flanagan and Barkley. For me they were the two standout players in the teams."
Everton will take on Stoke City on Saturday, while Liverpool prepare for a Premier League clash against Hull City on Sunday.
