Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that Daniel Sturridge does not get "enough credit" for his performances at the club.
The striker, who joined the Reds from Chelsea in 2013, penned a contract extension earlier today, keeping him at Anfield for a further five years.
Carragher told talkSPORT: "I'm delighted to see Daniel signing a new contract, it's a massive boost for the club.
"I don't think he gets enough credit for what he's done at Liverpool, his goals-to-game ratio is brilliant and he's been a massive miss for Liverpool this season, and we've certainly seen that in recent games.
"People have criticised the team defensively, but going forward there's been a lack of creativity and a lack of goals, I think a major part of that is Daniel being out with injury."
Sturridge scored 21 goals in the Premier League last season.
