Daniel Sturridge insists that he is yet to show his best form for Liverpool after signing a new five-year contract.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has vowed to show his best form in the coming seasons after putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract.

The England international, who has committed himself to Anfield until 2019, has become a vital player in Brendan Rodgers's team after he scored 21 Premier League goals last season.

The 25-year-old, who was offloaded by both Manchester City and Chelsea in his career, has been missed in the Reds' last six games due to a thigh injury that he picked up while on international duty with England last month.

"I've not shown yet what I can do," Sturridge told the club's official website. "What I'm doing is just the start for me. I may have had some good games and scored some goals, but literally this is the beginning in terms of what I can show.

"I don't feel I've shown really what I can do as a footballer. I am looking forward to the hard work, the training, the games and everything, and looking forward to the future.

"This is something I've always dreamt of in terms of playing week in, week out at a big club and having great teammates around me, with a fantastic manager. The playing style suits the way I play. I'm looking forward to the future."

Earlier this week, manager Brendan Rodgers was unsure on whether the striker would be fit for tomorrow's clash against West Bromwich Albion.
