Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish believes that skipper Steven Gerrard is a "great example for everybody".
The 33-year-old surpassed Dalglish's all-time goalscoring record with two penalties against West Ham United last Sunday as the Reds reached nine wins on the bounce.
Gerrard, who has now scored 173 goals for Liverpool, could lift his first Premier League title this season given that the Merseyside outfit are two points clear at the top of the table with five games to play.
"He has been fantastic for the football club and he's a great example for everybody," Dalglish told the club's official website.
"He's a fantastic statesman; he has been unbelievably successful at this football club with what he's done, the amount of games he has pulled out of the mire, and the general way he conducts himself.
"He's really matured over the years - carrying the captaincy for Liverpool Football Club is quite an onerous job and I think he does it remarkably well."
Liverpool face a crucial clash on Sunday at Anfield against Manchester City, who are four points behind with two games in hand.
