Kenny Dalglish: Charlie Adam may not miss the season

Kenny Dalglish says that Liverpool will wait another 10 days before they assess the fitness of Charlie Adam.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has revealed that Charlie Adam may not be ruled out for the rest of the season as he waits on the fitness of the midfielder.

Reports have claimed that the Scotland international is almost certain to be sidelined for the remainder of the Reds' campaign after suffering knee ligament damage during Liverpool's 3-2 defeat to Queens Park Rangers last week.

Despite speculation surrounding the fitness of the 26-year-old, Dalglish has insisted that the current diagnosis is premature.

"We know Charlie has strained knee ligaments, but we still don't know how long he will be out," Dalglish told the club's official website. "He hasn't had an operation and as it stands he's not having one.

"It's only been a week since he did it. He needs to rest it for another 10 days or so and then he will be reassessed.

"We'll see how he is then and we'll be in a better position to know when he will be back playing. We haven't ruled him out for the rest of the season. We're just waiting to see how he progresses."

Meanwhile, the Merseyside team are preparing to close an eight-point gap between themselves and Newcastle United, who they come up against on Sunday.
